Reflection for March 2015

JESUS MEETS THE WOMEN OF JERUSALEM

In the words of Pope Francis
(Dec 7th 2013 at the Vatican)

“I would like to underline how the woman has a particular sensitivity for the “things of God”; above all in helping us to understand the mercy, tenderness and love that God has for us. And it pleases me to think that the Church is not (masculine); it is (feminine).

The Church is a woman!
The Church is a mother!
and that’s beautiful………
We have to think deeply about this”

Catherine likewise in her letter “The Effects of Lenten Meditation” writes: “Pray for your portion of Easter Grace before the extra Treasury is closed. Pray fervently and constantly, do not give up until all is given to you.”
(Letter to Mary de Sales White  April 19th 1841)

And so we pray:
May our hearts, O God, be filled with the same compassion as these women in Jerusalem. And may we too follow Jesus, caring for those who suffer, offering kindness to those who are alone, visiting the sick and imprisoned and giving hope to all.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen
